Combined Jagur Reef, Almond Beach facilities offer more variety than ever before

The year 2009 has been an exciting one at Almond Beach and Jaguar Reef Lodge.  The Hayles family, owner of Almond Beach Belize, took over ownership of Jaguar Reef in the fall of 2008, and brought many changes and new activities to the newly combined location.

Together with the new building, Villa Verano, scheduled for completion in time for 2009 Christmas season, the combined Jaguar Reef and Almond Beach resort facilities are now among the top 10 largest in Belize.

A total of 59 rooms have veen uniquely laid out in small clusters, maintaining an intimate feel while still allowing for a large selection of rooms and suites, from a cute beachfront casita to a 5,500 square foot luxury villa suite.

The past year has also seen a tremendous growth in weddings and honeymoons at the resort, with more than 40 couples choosing to have their wedding at the Jaguar Reef Lodge.

The new Villa Verano location will allow the resort to cater weddings of up to 50 guests, with a wedding, reception and wedding dinner in a private location, either outdoors or inside the Villa's Great Room if an evening shower threatens to put on the festivities.

Many new, exciting tours have been added to the resort's list of reef, river and jungle excursions this fall.  The Maya Ancient and Modern tour allows guests to visit the Nim Li Punit archeological site, where carved steles depict Mayan life more than a thousand years ago, as well as a modern open house in a local Mayan village, where villagers talk of their history and show how they live today in a family village.

Another option is a day's sail in a luxury catamaran, offering guests the chance to enjoy a leisurely day exploring the reef and cayes both above and beneath the water's surface, with some spectacular snorkeling opportunities.  And early morning bird watchers can now enjoy a breakfast beside the Sittee River, followed by a gentle cruise back to the resort spotting iguana, crocodiles and the occasional manatee!

The Lodge's most exciting new venture, scheduled for launch in October 2009, is its "Lifestyle & Learning" vacations, which offer guests a chance to not only relax in the sun and explore the natural life of Belize but also learn something new, and take something home with them that they will always remember.
